With no real alterntive that is cost effective, oil is here to stay for a while. Also with the increased demand for the BRIC countries Exxon has the potential for great returns of the next few years. Top it off with the dividend the stock pays, this is great for a long term position.

It's always nice to hear someone else agrees with this stock pick. Considering the current price of the stock, I was a little uncertain as to the timing, but think I made the right move.

Agreed. Don't let the nay sayers influence you. Exxon corporates know more about the industry than anybody, and the profits speak for themselves.

Who wants to solve the oil crisis? There is too much $$$ to be made. Until we look at Mexico which by the way has lots of oil on hand. Our current president is a oil president duh!!!!!!

Exxon has limited prescence in all of the BRIC nations; hence, why they are trying to get the public to believe that drilling more here would help out "oil prices" which it won't ...

Brazil has plenty of it's own oil and is mostly oil independent as ethanol drives their domestic transportation needs ... Russia has more oil than Saudi Arabia, they just haven't been looking very hard ... China buys most of its oil from Afrcia, Iran, Russia and India does the same ...

They represent a dying breed and will eventually become refiners only as they look to move away from costly exploration and investment in shaky nations ... There aren't many nations left that trust these clowns after they raped and pillaged for sooo long ... Equitorial Guinea & Chad comes to mind ...

within 20 years oil will begin to fade as the US's primary source of transportation fuel ... As the intellectually lazy and boring baby boomers beig to retire; the new generation of Americans who were taught to conserve and that Science is our friend, will not repeat the lazyness and inept response of their parents during the oil crisis in the 1970s and early 1980s ...

I think in the long-term, oil giants will "eat themselves" and could possibly turn private with their massive capital reserves and agressive buyback programs ...
