Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA)

CAPS Rating: 1 out of 5

Perhaps you've heard of Mafia Wars, FarmVille, Café World, and Zynga Poker. Zynga distributes games through social networking sites and via mobile apps. The company makes money through the sale of virtual goods associated with their games and through advertising.

The "electronic-Games" business is taking a pounding now, for several reasons. It is hard to break into, fan base is fickle, inventiveness is very high cost, and Zenga is...well...silly. How many people will pay money for a virtual cow when there are angry birds to sling at pigs?

Right on the money. I also find it extremely stupid that people sit in front of a computer all dang day and feed virtual cows. This industry is one of the most pathetic avenues for individuals to waste money that I have seen in a long time. You might as well invest in those emails from "Zimbabwe" stating that you have a "long lost cousin who is a King and is going to give you $12M if you send them $1k".
