This is one of those stocks in 5 years you wont be able to believe it was for under $12.00 Ford now GM going ALUM trucks, soon it will be Dodge and Toyota, I highly doubt Carbon Fiber will be in the mix anytome soon. Auto Mans have no choice but to go to ALUM with new fuel standards.... BY the way Obama sucks

I should have entered this pick months (or at least weeks) ago. Oh well. Alcoa is already up about 50% since the fall, and there's more room to run. The two main catalysts are the growth of Alcoa's automotive business with the new aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 and the stabilization of the global aluminum market. These should lead to a strong rebound in Alcoa's profitability over the next several years as the global recovery picks up steam.

Dramatic changes in industry: Aluminum pricing appears to have bottomed and major shift to aluminum in car bodies would be a game changer. Ford 150 is very encouraging. If others follow the lead Alcoa will be at an all time high in due course.

As the automotive industry moves to increase fuel economy by designing and producing aluminum bodies, I think Alcoa will see a nice rebound.

The cure for low prices is low prices. It looks to me the bottom has finally carved out. I am taking a small real money position.

The F-150, the #1 selling vehicle is going "all aluminum," what does that say about the aluminum prices, or the supplier to Ford? I hope that translates to a stock that performs better than the broad market, though Alcoa has not favored particularly well in the past (makes me a bit nervous).

Cars are lightweighting and Alcoa deals in more than aluminum. I need to do more research but the last time I visited one of their plants I was surprised at what else they worked on.

Autos are going to be watching how the Ford F-150 performs. This is as big as when soda and beer cans changed from steel to aluminum

AA has been downtrodden since the collapse. That's a long time without recovery. I know, this is non-fool thinking. But, heck, it's only part of the analysis.

If I remember hearing right, They are now supplying the air industry at an increased rate. Automotive, too.

With all the news, pro/con, I actually believe the economy is improving. The world can't improve without Aluminum. It's gotta go up. And up a good bit. Last year still went up in value by double figures. While every broker tearfully says nay, in every media source there is.

That's a 15% increase. What are you making with BOA?

You can do the numbers and see if what they say now and next December are close together. I follow a few numbers, they still say favorable. There's no way this issue cannot return to its former value and up from there, especially after this years increases.

I admit it, I got excited and jumped in while this company was still dropping (just didn't know it was still dropping at the time.) They have pared back their operations over the past year or so and increased their operating efficiency.

Assuming the recovery continues they are positioned to capitalize upon their position in their industry. A solid transnational company well positioned to ride a recovery back to increased dividends and capital gains. It is a long term holding. Again I am eschewing hedging via the limit order options available here. I bought the company not pieces of paper and the only way I'd sell is: for a better company; or, if their fundamentals changed.
