I can't say I know much of anything at all about short haul trucking but I'm in the Jim Chanos camp on China and commodities. It's very difficult to predict the exact date bubbles will pop but with China's government announcing policy to restrict their real estate market right after 60 minutes does a piece on all of their ghost towns my guess is China's massive construction bubble and the ancillary commodity bubble it created will pop sooner rather than later. M* already has ABFS rated 4 stars with a fair value about 50% higher than it's current price. I would expect the price of fuel and the U.S. economy have been weighing on ABFS results and from the M* report this seems to be the case. I see oil and gasoline coming back to earth after China's bubble finally pops and since the U.S. exports next to nothing to China plummeting commodity prices will be a net boon to our economy once the initial panic of a China implosion wears off and reality sets in. falling fuel prices and improving customers should bode well for a shipping company currently trading for about tangible book value.

Others much profitable competitors will eat them!

Currently undervalued on an historical basis. Unloved and out of favor. Will bounce back and then some with the economy.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for a 6x FCF valuation and a stock trading under book value. Outperform.

Consolidation in the LTL environment and an overall improving economic environment will lift ABFS to $38 per share by 6/2012

I have researched the company's history, and feel the recent wage reduction sacrifice by employees will lead to company survival along with increased growth potential both internally and externally. ABF will survive this economic crisis and continue to lead freight industry as rock solid company since 1935.

Overvalued compared to industry.

A recessions a coming this summer and high oil prices are not going away since the falling dollar is to blame, and continued inflation is not going to bring the value of the dollar up any time soon. Burnanke was not helping this country by bailing out the crust of American society. Also, Bush's stimulus package didn't help the upward inflationary pressure that is killing this countries middle class. Sorry about my rant but anyway my point is to sell trucking since rail is about to take over from the high price of fuel.

Very tight fisted management that will fit well with the slowing economy when compared to most other carriers. No debt load to speak of, and almost 100% ownership of hard assets.

this company has some very good profit scores from last year for being a trucking company. I know that they move millions of freight more a day than most of its competitors. Plus they are competing with J. B. Hunt so they have to keep up. Expect a split in the future to keep up.

Well run transportation company. Seasonal adjustments in inventory will necessitate restocking over the next few months. ABF runs a tight ship and will not give in to pricing pressure prevalent at this time of year. Full disclosure: I used to work for them.

beaten down stock. I look for it to rebound similar to YRCW.
