THE BABY BOOMERS ARE AGING AND THEY ALL NEED HEALTHCARE, AND ABBOT LABS IS A MAJOR IN THE RANKS.
Recs
Cash flowing very nicely, and a company that has consistently beaten estimates while paying a nice dividend. This is an $80+ stock.
Recs
One of the better pharmaceutical companies and they have a nice dividend!
Recs
Strong year over year growth, new medical optics division is huge and diabetes division just pumps out tons of margin.

I think they will buy NNLX and add another billion+ dollars to the bottom line every year selling the BNP petri dishes for at least the next five years. Also, people will be getting and using more medical products now that they feel it will start to become affordable. Insurance companies will lose as ABT wins.
Recs
Great company with a lot of good products. Patents on their drugs are not near expiration, unlike some of their competitors. Nice dividend with a history of increases. I see no reason why this stock deserves to get beaten up as much as it has. Fears about Obama's healthcare reform are overblown.

no comment This is a stock that is very likely to provide a 20%+ annual returns in the next 5 years

Focus on long-term solutions, and a strong balance sheet as well. Got too tired of seeing this stock get beat up to resist any longer making it a pick of mine.

Humira shortfall is a temporary snag. It is actually gaining market share from Amgen and JNJ. Growth at good price after the Q1 call!
Recs
New 52 week low. Strong buy rating from S&P. Long time Cramer favorite. New position initiation.

3/16/09 Pitch: Upthumb. Earnings 4/15/09. Money making machine. Core position. Recently increased dividend. Consistent positive standout in Barron's and Wall Street commentary. Could be posed for strong growth in 2009 and 2010.
Past Trades:
12/31/08 Upthumb. 1/21/2009 Earnings Day and day after Inauguration Day for President Obama. Believe that we will see large runup across the board from Dec 30 'til that day. Added Pitch on 01/10/09: Earnings 1/21/09, 9:00 AM Still think this is a good industry to be in during the recession. Closed 1/21/09 @ $52.32 for +6.84 points.
10/10/08 Upthumb. Earnings 10/15/08, 9:00 AM Good product pipeline, good industry to be in during recession. Closed 10/17/2008 @ $55.61 for +7.48 points.
Recs
1. Abbott is trading near multiyear lows.
2. Abbott is a primary beneficiary of demographic driven growth in its secotr, and a new government focus to increase the amount of healthcare entitlement spending.
4. Abbott is a solid performer with broad leading positions in its sector. I believe Abbott's performance history warrants a contrarian view of recent news.

I have watched this one make money from the sidelines for several years...just decided to get off the sidelines and own it. Performance has been consistent over the years, and very good.
Recs
Recent downgrade was a disgrace....stents are booming (perhaps best of class), smart management...Humira is a great product and don't see the slowing that prompted the downgrade....too cheap--should be trading at $55 minimum.
This is a conservative--nasty company--Miles White is a nasty SOB--just how I like them running my companies...
