Fantastic dividend which appears secure, well managed, very low valuation, possible that more valuations may be lowered, but should pick up again in the next year or so which would essentially add more value to the bottom line.
Recs
Seem to be well managed. Proven track record, dividend play, putting real money in based on any slight dips. Growth will probably be a while as the market learns how to adjust to Mark to market pricing of assets. I am really not knowledgable enough to analyze financials too deep (is anybody) so I depend on researching other peoples research. Probably not a great stock for this game but I use the game to track real stuff.

While share gains will be modest, total return looks attractive.
This from S&P, who rate it 4-stars: "A recent dividend policy change allows ACAS to utilize retained long-term capital gains for distribution, lending additional security to its payout, in our view.We believe the firm's forecasted dividend of $4.19 for 2008 adds to the stock's attractive total return potential."
Recs
Share price has been driven lower due to the sell offs in the market as a result of the recession we're experiencing. Once the US economy and markets bounce back, the share price will soar, as will their profits.
ACAS has paid dividends and increased them for the past 10 years.
This stock is on sale right now, load up while you can.

OK, here goes. I am absolutely new to this, but the blogs I have read here have helped me enormously. Here's to giving back.
ACAS has provided dividends steadily for more than 10 years, at this price, you're at a 12 % return. Not bad, if it's true, and if it holds. But suppose it gets cut in half. You're @ 6%. Not a "bad worst case scenario."
This stock follows the "low risk- high volatility" philosophy espoused by a variety of well know investors including Pobrai.
Disclosure: I bought this with real money

great yield, portfolio looks good, should improve as economy beginis to iimprove which I believe will happen in the 3rd or 4th qtr.
Recs
This stock has had a dramatic retracement and I think it will break through to the next level. The divident will likely not sustain the same levels in the next few quarters, but I expect the yield will continue to be 5+%. Looking at the longer picture I see this stock continue to rise, along with many other strong financial businesses... so add that 5+% to your capital gains and you are looking easily at double digit returns.
Recs
Great opportunity after recent pullbacks, great history of maintaining great dividends.

HAVE HAD THIS ONE FOR YEARS AND IT JUST KEEPS PAYING BIG RETURNS
Recs
Financial turmoil has increased number of financing opportunities available to ACAS at very attractive returns. With over 200 portfolio companies, risk is spread and diversified. When markets and the economy return to normal (2-3 years), ACAS will reap the rewards. I expect a double in 3 years with a 12% yield while I wait.
Recs
Acas will rise with the rising stock market. The stock market will rise as perceptions of the economy's future rise.

A BUSINESS DELVELOPMENT COMPANY PAYING LARGE DIVIDENDS AND CURRENTLY IN AN UP TREND.
Recs
Stock's growth based on success of American business. Stock's attractiveness is the dividend.
Recs
Great success in the past. Very confident management team.
Recs
It currently is putting its house back in order and this should be done by third quarter. It will be all uphill from there.

I own this one for a long time. Liked it at $28, bought more at the top. Well, the stock is down now, fears about credit quality. As a mezzanine investor, they have their hands in a real diverse set of industries. They make profit. It pays out huge dividends, and is likely to rebound to the mid 30s, maybe low 40s. It shows a quarter over quarter growth, and in this market, ACAS has lots of prime investments to deploy capital.
Recs
No great rationale except a gut feeling, and a hope as I have, to me, a substantial investment in the company.
Recs
Great dividend, proven history of performance. Solid management.
Recs
Another BDC that I like, with an excellent dividend. Less conservative than my favorite, AINV, but a good way to diversify a bit in the space. Has been unfairly beat down by the credit crunch, and will recover nicely when its better seen that the impact from that is minimal/nonexistant.
