Accelrys, Inc. (ACCL)

Positives: Organic growth is likely once they get a foothold in some of the broader industries they are targeting (see their website). Programmers can redeploy code and build a platform of interlocking products. Fits with the idea of buying shovel makers to tap growth in mining industry, i.e. buying research support to leverage growth in research in general. But I do like other molecular modeling software and am not familiar with theirs. So, this is a buy for their future growth prospects, branching out to reach a broader market, probably by redeploying some of their code but in packages that address workflow in different industries. Also a technical buy at the moment.

I first encountered this company in primary researcher's work on modeling chemical reactions, which he was licensing or developing for ACCL. So, they seem to be able to tap into the wider scientific community to develop the science underlying what should be proprietary analytics/algorithms.
