AES has significant holdings outside the US (Brazil), has recently paid down a great deal of debt there, and everyone always, reguardless of economy, needs power

This is a long term play on the power sector. This is one of the best in this sector

This HR pick is well managed. Heck, they are so well managed, they don't even have an HR department. Their employees pitch in, figure out what needs to be done and do it. Heck, they even negotiate their own contracts with countries. What takes teams of hundreds of lawyers months or years of labor to negotiate, they do in-house in only a few months. Their record of cleanliness, safety, and percent of power potential on-line (vs off-line/being repaired) is phenomenal.

Unrest in some of AES's developing markets may keep this stock cool until things settle down, terrorism-wise. Good long term play, though, in a niche market.
