I don't really remember how Affymetrix got into my data base. It's not a biopharma and I don't really know the first thing about equipment for genetic analysis. Maybe I got it mixed up with Affymax once. Regardless, I've been keeping an eye on their sales and their share price for a few years now and I've had some success on CAPS picks when one becomes discordant with the other.
Revenues have been stable the last few quarters but the cash burn was substantially lower in Q2. The share price was recently as high as 5.4 but has declining after the company announced a 109M debt financing. I'm not a big fan of debt, but I've seen many companies in this sector use it as an effective tool for growth. The share price could easily decline to recent lows of 4, but I believe that ultimately the stock will remain range-bound and I'll be able to close the pick over 5.

I'm counting on AFFX to innovate in the field of Genetic mapping, and bring their prices down to the same level or at least a more fitting level for their products. Plus, with the other Genetic Mapping companies in the game, I think they will all benefit in the next five years or so.
