Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited (AHL)

Meanwhile, AHL has become a diversified insurer, underwriting marine, aviation, and various other kinds of insurers. Still, it is priced at a major discount to peers: Trailing P/E (ttm, intraday): 5.46 Forward P/E (fye 31-Dec-09) : 6.14 PEG Ratio (5 yr expected): 0.61 Price/Sales (ttm): 1.14 Price/Book (mrq): 0.75 (Source: yahoo). Note: the book value is 99% tangible. The only insurer that is similarly priced is ENH, but ENH has almost 50% of its portfolio in mortgage-backed securities. AHL has a more diversified portfolio. Also, AHL is mroe profitable, as measured by the combined ratio. As a small property insurer & reinsurer, it is still risky, but the vauations seem to reflect that well.
