Housing industry still has a long way to fall. We should hit bottom in late spring or early summer. We might hit bottom sooner if the Fed cuts rates, which I believe will happen in Feb 2007, unless inflation is out of control. Home prices will errode… More

no way this sector out performs the market, an argument could be made for shorting almost the entire sector. Cramer advises buying puts on about every mortgage and housing play out there. But at the very least will underperofm the market.

This company is clearly done

AHM has gotten a beat down (70%~ decline in value) and now has bottomed out. Their dividend is now yielding over 20% of the stock purchase price (if bough today in the mid $11 range). It doesn't take too long at that pace before the dividend has returned 100% of your initial investment...The rest is just gravy. They'll bounce back, but it may be slow with all the subprime and Alt-A concerns...
