Allstate will grow in profitablity as property insurance benefits from the eventual real estate recovery and the middle class's recovery in jobs, investments, and purchasing power.

Very solid fundamentals.
EPS 2008: 3.22 p/e: 9.18
EPS 2009: 3.42 p/e 8.64
EPS 2010: 4.2 p/e 7.04

No major hurricanes expected in 2009, great for the insurance industry.

Now is time to buy low before Allstate rebounds and cuts some of their liabalities

Sorta had to.

Current price is about 8-10 $ below Book Price. I was employed by them for 38 years and know the corporate culture.They are a very conservative group and will not give away the store with lower premiums and they have a great handle on cost and claims frequency.

The real unknown is asbestos litigation costs going forward.

great company, great dividend, way too cheap. business is very sound. great balance sheet.

Simple, at least from my experience... Customer Service !!!

Beaten down sector. Limited exposure to sub prime debacle. Dividen yield over 3% and cover over 4 times and a P/e low enough to give the first 2. Good management team and good risk management. Selling on service on not just cheap prices - ability to select business written. There really are diamonds in the dirt!!

Insanely low PE for such a strong, profitable company. Sub-prime won't hurt this stock as much as panic already has. This is a great long-term pick.

I hope the Bates valuation model works. My target for ALL is 137

This is an AWESOME pick. P/E ratio of 6.14... for a huge, growing, dividend paying company trading near its 52 week low? Seems pretty great to me.
