The company is trading at 18/share. This price is overvalued for a 600M Market Cap company. 1. weak product pipeline. With the exception of 1 product, all other proudcts are at preclinical stage, which means that it'll take at least 3 years for them… More

Have been watching Alnylam for a few years and am throwing it in the caps portfolio. The risk is very high with technology like this but the price seems right and think it will out perform in the mid term.

Alnylam's pipeline is impressive, although the company website is rather crytpic. Nevertheless, they have demonstrated clinical know-how in the RNAi field and should rake in more up front payments as time progresses.

Thing about this play, if the company achieves success in the first few trials, sky's the limit. Consider Biodefense: Some pathogens that worry government scientists - F. tularemia for example - have no real treatment options. RNAi could be developed overnight for these cases. The human genome is sequenced, therefore safety should not be an issue. Now, I am not suggesting the money for Alnylam is in biodefense and orphan diseases, but the publicity won't hurt.

If the phase II study of its lead RNA interference (RNAi) drug ALN-RSV01 in lung transplant patients naturally infected with respiratory syncytial virus is successful, this stock will really take off. A wise investor will be able to make money off the rise that typically precedes the release of these trials.
