Can a random number generator (www.random.org) produce the best 100 stock picks that will beat the market over the years? Let’s find out. :)
My process, for those interested:
I use www.random.org number generator to produce a number between 1 and 7,801. There are 7,801 stocks available to choose on the Motley Fool CAPS Game. Once I get a number, I go to the list, find that stock, and select that stock to outperform for the next five years.

Alaska is a part of the world that will always need landlines. Understand this, and understand why this stock will outperform for years.

Long term play - reduced dividend appears to be helping the company shore up some funds to continue paying off debt, only minimal growth in the number of shares. With Verizon moving in, it will force the company to compete with a major player or possibility of being acquired. compared with other telecom companies, it appears this one has a nice variety of assets in one geographic area (a huge one however).

The iPhone will drive new revenue and profits in 2012, coupled with the div and prospects from Verizon moving next door this is a double in the works

I like telecom operators putting cash away for a rainy day and investing in next-generation networks. That's why I'm willing to bet my CAPS score on Alaska's long-term future. If the company starts to raise those dwindling payouts again, the stock price should follow -- thus reducing the yield for new investors, natch.

This company reported a loss 6/30/11 of $3.655 compared to a loss of $27,673 for the period ended 6/30/2010. Do the math.
Don't worry about Verizon either. This company has made compensation for Verizon's competition. I see growth and a nice dividend too boot. I am long on Alaska Comm. I see profits by Dec 31, 2011. and maybe by Sept 's financials. Very conceivable.

not so sure about the company as much as the State is growing and people probably spend a lot of time indoors during the dark winters...more use of cable, phone & internet.

7.7% Div yield - company is investing laying lots of cable to open up Alaska and connect to the continental US. Super low PE, trading near a 52 week low, seems an excellent value play.
