THIS STOCK IS READY, NEW BOARD MEMBER KEY.

This is for purely speculative cash for now. Per share, it's losing money, suggesting it's living on venture capitol while its novel medicine delivery device (medication absorbed as a mist/vapor via inhalation) completes its trials. It recently signed a deal with ALV presumably to manufacture that part of the device actually responsible for vaporizing the medication.

Alexza has recently stated that they are on track to form a partnership before year end. I think this will happen sooner rather than later. Perhaps early October. When the announcement is made, ALXA will erupt strongly to the upside as it has in the past on weaker news.
I notice today that someone bought 30 of the December 7.5 call options, when previously there was virtually no "open interest" in any December calls, or in any ALXA options.
This is another indication in my opnion that news is coming soon.
Given Alexa's multiple promising quick inhale drugs and solid patent and testing results to date, there is a great risk/reward ratio here.
I think we'll see ALXA at $12.00 or more within the next 8 weeks.

Viable technology...research so far looks pretty good...lot of cash...looks like a pretty good place to park some speculative cash.

Very promising drug delivery system whereby drugs are vaporized and inhaled rather than swallowed or injected. Easier and more efficient. Proven management. CEO/principal stockholder devised Nicoderm patch, and is well regarded in his field.

Great leadership in Alejandro Zaffaroni.

This company is headed by the same guy that created Alza Corp., the company which created the nicotene patch. Trust this guy's leadership. Seriously. Really innovative thing here. Being a UC Berkeley student, you tend to hear things about smoking and vaporizing (i took a neurobiology class). Vaporizing will hit your brain far quicker than an injection or pill. And if it eases your mind, this company is in palo alto, aka stanford territory. Yea, i'll admit it, they are just as smart as Cal students. Im just assuming here, but itd be a reasonable to assume that this company is stocked with Stanford grads.
This product is not a drug, but a SYSTEM, a very innovative system that has shown proven results in phase 2 trials (refer to monday's results). According to the company website, 200 drugs thus far are able to be vaporized. This is better than time release capsules. Vaporizing chemicals will hit your system almost instantaneously vs 20 or 30 or however long minutes. When horrid migranes come, do you want to wait? No way, and neither would anyone else. The faster, the better. Vaporizing is not harmful to the system. Vaporizing is heating the chemicals into a gas that your brain will pick up instantaneously.
In the future, everyone will be using this system if possible. All the major drug companies will turn to this company's system.
If monday's 50% jump for 2 positive results are any indication, when the flood gates open, this will be the stock you wish you were in earlier.

I've been interested in Alexza since Dec of 2006, when I read about inhalable fentanyl via Alexza's new "Staccato" drug delivery system; basically, they've developed a system to rapidly heat a drug, vaporize it; then cool it so that you can inhale the resulting aerosol condesation, which is the quickest possible way to deliver a drug to the body. If you inject a drug, it has to go around through the heart before getting to the brain; but if you go via the lungs, it goes directly to the bloodstream heading right the brain.
Fentanyl is the perfect drug for breakthrough pain in cancer patients or other people that suffer from quick onsets of pain. Fentanyl lolipops already exist for quick acting pain relief, but an inhalable form of the drug would be much faster.
It really would be a revolutionary way to deliver drugs to people who need relief right away.
They're also working on a vapor form of benzodiazapines (like valium, xanax) for anxiety attacks and a different type of drug specifically for migranes.
This stock just (3-26-07) jumped up over 50% on the news of positive initial results from the clinical trial of their schizophrenia drug AZ-004, and their drug AZ-001 for migranes. Bear in mind that, according to Alexza, there are nearly 200 different drugs that are capable of being "aerosolized" with their Staccato system.
I had the stock since Feb, and just ended it to lock in the big gains, but I think this company really does have a future, so I've re-upped.

Their unique, yet old-school, drug delivery system may be the best thing to happen to people with migraines and panic disorders in a long, long time.

This is one of those technologies that no one ever needed (except cigarette smokers) but now that we have it should prove utterly necessary. The deep lung is the last frontier of drug delivery--not quite, but it sounds really nice.
Here's the thing, my Foolish homies. Let's imagine you suffer from migraines--you want a drug that works in three minutes or fifty-three minutes? Thought so.
You suffer from horrific anxiety. You want it taken care of in the event of an attack in ten minutes or sixty?
You suffer from cancer pain that, when it hits, makes you want to kill yourself. (Not exaggerating.) You can make it go away in minutes, not an hour.
Are you going to want to do this?
Yes, you are.
And that's it. The company's science is plenty good enough and the potential number of drugs susceptible to this delivery system is large. RB crew, you looking at this one?
Recs
Offer unique and forward-thinking products.

Alexza has Huge potential with their "smokable" medicine. Medicine is inhaled and passed directly into the blood stream, working in seconds. In contrast pills can take 15 minutes to an hour to work, and yet are stiill classified at "fast acting." Very Speculative at this point, but well worth the risk.
