With the $1.25B settlement, AMD will be able to payoff a good chunk of it's debt (originally about $3.7B) hence improve their Balance Sheet.

Bad on short term. I love the reliability of their products, the performance. I've always sworn by their products and I continue to. However, the market doesn't see this because the INTEL brand is too recognizable compared to AMD. Intel products are… More

Chip makers have been making more sales due to Windows 7.
Windows 7 encouraged more PC sales, which is translated to more chip sales
