I am a Network Engineer that buys servers for my employer. The last order I put together for server refresh stated a requirement for at least 4 core and preferably 6 core processors from Dell. These will end up being AMD processors. I ain't the only guy - AMD will consume market share for the Virtual Server market over the next year.

there new plant will push intel until they lose more and more ground to them. I believe intel is going to lose this race with AMD in the long run.

AMD is finally getting a break in the form of the EU. Imagine what technologies would come out of this company had it more working cash from sales to spend on R&D and mfg. Thanks Intel for the dirty tactics and now they will have to pay for it. Intel is the same company that bought out Rambus and then killed it because it was too good. Thank goodness they can't do that to AMD. Intel is re-entering the GPU market because AMD is pulling away in that market with a new DirectX11 video card (the worlds first) and a 1GHz GPU (also a worlds first).

"Advanced Micro Devices on Monday released its fastest chips yet. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company announced the six-core Opteron chips, code-named Istanbul -- a move that pushes the chip manufacturer out in front of server customers."

Not only that, but Istanbul is 5 months ahead of schedule.

2009 will be the year when AMD finally starts to show signs of reaping the benefits of the ATI purchase. And more recently the decision to sell their fabrication assets will help the company.

This is a tough one for me. I like AMD ... I like ATI..... but management NEEDS to start showing some profit here. Its been over 2 years. They are on the right track, hopefully they have a decent pipeline for future VGA and CPU's. But this is an honest casino like pick. Intel has some good processors coming and no matter if ur an AMD fan or not the i7 is amazing CPU. So heres to you AMD..lets go get em.

on its last legs, relying on litigation not innovation. AMD will not see a dime of Euro judgement.

If history repeats itself, semiconductors always outperm after a recession. Be on the look out for a short term run to 9-10.00 a share.

This is better then intel if you want cheaper product that is basically just as good. Though i buy intel when i build my comps. I think athlons will be massed used quantum computing is 20 years away at least and i will be out of this position long before then. Cheap and good tech.
