With the current 700Mhz auction underway and the battle waging between the wireless carriers, AMT is poised to be the winner of all. To top it off AMT has a ton of South American exposure!

too much compitition in wireless service, but the industry has a lot of devlopment as a whole, especially with 3G and 4G networks. AMT is probably a more reliable way to tap into this.

Looking for finacial ratios we can see that AMT doesn't seems a good bet for investors:

PER = 233x (overvalued)
P/B = 5,64 (too much especulation)
Price/Sales = 11,06
ROE = only 3%

And if this is not suficient to convince you to short, let me tell you that only 0,04% of AMT stocks are in the hand of the administration!
If even the administrators don't believe in the company that they are managing, do you gone bet in it?

AMT owns and leases broadcast communication towers to wireless/wireline/radio/cable operators on a long-term basis. They have a stable and consistent revenue stream as most contracts are in the 15 year range and with only a handful of operators in this space the demand will outweigh supply as the race to build more towers is on. The debt/equity seems high at first glance but is in line with competitors, as debt and securitization financing is used to fund new towers. With all of that being said, debt costs have increased and new deal financing has obviously dried up. The stock is retesting its all-time high just above $46 but we don't foresee a breakout, but rather a topping pattern forming. With a great reward/risk for a short trade, we are long October $45 Puts as we see 7-8 points of downside over the next few months and have a stop loss just above the all-time high of $46.53.

As oil climbs this stock does as well. They own/lease a huge amount of towers and locations that will for the next few years only increase in value as technology seeks to fill the gap left by rising oil and transportation prices.

For those of you not familiar with American Tower, it is one of the best growth stocks on the market. Even at its unbelievably high PE, this stock looks to have value. This company builds cellular towers in the North and South America. It generates a decent amount of work out of the United States, but the growth aspects in some of the emerging markets are staggering. Many of these countries have sporadic land phone lines, and instead of setting up more, they seemed to have forgone this system by going cellular instead. Their prospects are bright and I forecast more of the same this quarter.

American Tower's first quarter earnings don't seem spectacular on paper as they only beat estimates by a penny, but this stock has been priced for perfection for some time and they continue to beat estimates. More For those of you not familiar with American Tower, it is one of the best growth stocks on the market. Even at its unbelievably high PE, this stock looks to have value. American Tower's first quarter earnings don't seem spectacular on paper as they only beat estimates by a penny, but this stock has been priced for perfection for some time and they continue to beat estimates. Recently, Standard and Poor's gave them a five star rating and for good reason. American Tower not only builds the towers, but also services and repairs them. They operate under long term and guaranteed contracts, plus they are increasing rent by 3-5% annually. I believe that plans will begin to offer unlimited voice and other programs that will cause a need to boost capacity and AMT will benefit directly, not to mention the set up of the much anticipated 3G network.

Internationally the company is better positioned for straight growth as market penetration is closer to 60% in Mexico and Brazil, which account for 10% of revenues but could be 25% in the next five years. They are also planning on moving into India which is closer to 20% penetration. This combination of growth and income places AMT in a unique position.

This stock has pulled back from its correction and looks to be heading for new highs. I believe they are trading at a discount to peers based on financial flexibility and overall growth prospects. The first quarter earnings were good at 10 cents per share vs. 5 cents per share last year. They beat estimates of 9 cents. Revenue increased 8%. Operating income was up 68%. Even more importantly operating expenses declined by over 10%. They did miss on revenue but only by 3 tenths of a percent.

The current chart if uninterrupted has AMT going to 61 since their double top breakout on April 23rd. Resistance will continue to be $45 a share so, do not buy until this number is passed on high volume creating support. April 15th breaking of the 30 day moving average also bodes well for the chart.

With respect to growth, this stock looks to have very consistent numbers. Revenue growth consistently is increasing at about 9% per year, but more importantly they are increasing earnings at a much faster clip as their fundamentals suggest that most expenses will remain constant going straight to the bottom line. Analyst estimates suggest that many are under figuring exactly how powerful the sector and this company are. Full year estimates have $.29 per share which seems strange as they had $.10 in the first quarter, and analysts have $.42 for the full year. They need to average a little over ten cents per quarter for the next three. If revenue increases as expected this stock or to compare to the quarter, earnings are doubling for every 8% increase in revenue so I would hypothesize that earnings would be closer to $.58 per share this year. That is still lower than the highest estimate by $.11. If we use $.58 for 2008 full year earnings the stock's PE will decrease to 76 from well over 300 and forward PE for 2009 would be 38. These are just estimates, but unless there is even more slowing of the economy this year, these numbers could be slightly lower on revenue. I have a three month price target of $47.
