I love my AMTD account, and appreciate the great customer service. They seem to be doing a great job with the TD Waterhouse integration. I still think it will take a little while to see some analyst-approved quarterly/fiscal year results before the stock price goes up consistantly.

They do not have a moat, switching brokers is easy. They have alot of research tools but I don't think the research tools are much of a differentator. Electronic brokerage is strictly a commodity business.

AMTD was trading at 20, announced record earnings and plummetted. I believe it will get back to 20 within the next 3-4 weeks

I believe there is short rise available as seasonal return to trading starts next month, it has had a two week dip of 7%, which is due to general market jitters, should pick up 15% to upper 19$, afterwhich who knows

This company is a leader in Online brokerages. It will continue to reap profits as consumers ramp up their buys and sells in the upcoming bubble of 2008.

By far the best low cost broker on the market. With the merger of TD Waterhouse and Ameritrade the power of AMTD is enormous. I have both an old Waterhouse and a new Ameritrade account, and even seperatly the research tools are the best in the buisness. When they finally work out the kinks and combine the two platforms, which is supposed to happen very soon, the research power is going to be enormous. Their "independent spirit" advertising campaign is exactly what they are striving for. However, unlike the rest of the online brokers, it is possible to talk to a human. Their customer service is great. I have a guy at the Bellevue, WA office (one of thousands across the country) who knows me by name, and any time I have a question or problem he answers it, or finds out the answer for me. This is where TD Ameritrade will destroy the competition. Once they get fully integrated look for a huge inflow of new accounts from other brokers. People are tired of paying $200 a trade when they can get exactly the same thing for $10 and half an hour of easy research. They will dominate the low cost broker field.
