I love my AMTD account, and appreciate the great customer service. They seem to be doing a great job with the TD Waterhouse integration. I still think it will take a little while to see some analyst-approved quarterly/fiscal year results before the stock price goes up consistantly.

Being a toll booth operator can be quite profitable, especially if all you do is let traffic flow through your hands and not have to worry about paying for the road.

That's what this company does, except it handles equity trades for a fee. The inexpensive infrastructure of the internet allows them to be quite profitable, especially as more people become comfortable handling financial transactions online.

The integration with TD Waterhouse (the U.S. side of it) seems to be going smoothly. I like their customer service and wait times are not very long at all. The online interface is smooth, as well.

With commodities going down and fed fund rates at such low levels, the rich are looking in the market for returns. this in turn will drive up stock prices increasing stock movement from middle to upper-middle class investors. Of all the companies in this arena, td-ameritrade has the right group of leadership to service these clients while maintaining good overall profits.

I feel the stock market will do well as people turn away from real estate speculation. Ameritrade is cheap with its earnings growth and with its acquisition of TD Waterhouse earnings could be significantly higher than anticipated

TD Ameritrade with its dynamic pool of products and services offerings helps in meeting the investment spirit of independent individual investors. More focus is on the long-term investor base rather than the traditional model depending on transactions. Of late, the electronic brokerage industry has become very competitive characterized by consolidation and new players with lower price points continue to enter market. However the value proposition of it has been excellent to bear the price competition, undeterred even by the free trade offer of Bank of America.

Ameritrade acquisition of TD Waterhouse has helped it create a diversified business proposition apart from the cost and revenue synergies. With this, only 40% of its revenues come from brokerage commissions and fees making it less vulnerable to the fluctuating trading revenues. It has also helped it double its asset-backed revenues. This leaves room to purse the strategies followed by its competitor of attracting a low cost, loyal deposit base and strong loan portfolio with its strong banking network.

The company sees huge potential from the mass affluent U.S population, which has more than $1 million as investible assets. The market for the same is about 37 million household with a capacity of about $14 trillion. The areas of concern are the performance in time of slow down in capital market and huge debt it has taken to finance the merger. However good cash flows and its interest coverage ratio above 9 makes its financial position strong.

A new revenue category money market deposit account (MMDA) has resulted from the agreement with TD Bank providing additional earnings with more stability. TD Ameritrade enjoys significant operating leverage, which helps in easy scalability, reducing per trade operating expenses. This would even help reach an operating margin of 50% from the current level of 36% once the merger synergies are fully captured. Acquisitions and migration of investors to online trading has placed TD Ameritrade in an advantageous position and is a promising stock to own.

THIS IS GOING MY WATCH LIST. IF THE OWNERS OF THIS COMPNAY CAN AFFORD TO BUY THE CUBS/WRIGLEY FIELD/25% OF THE NETWORK RIGHT THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETING RIGHT.

THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK I SEE IS THIS-with retail brokerage representing the vast majority of its business. RETAIL IS GOING TO SUFFER HUGE IN 09-WATCH ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every year more and more people start trading stocks online themselves. Ameritrade is a great way to enter the market for these types of people. The Bank of America free trades gimmick will not weigh this stock down forever. Personally, I would never signup for an account solely for free trades, especially when my current E-Trade account is so user-friendly and has vast amounts of information in its database.

I think this is the winner in online brokers for the forseable future (10 years or so). Good managment and their still the cheapest online broker in terms of usage. Additionall since the merger they have drastically upgraded their web page and stock screening tools.

I use Ameritrade, I don't own the stock, but I'm giving it consideration. I think Motley Fools has it right, and I think individual investors will continue to move away from the Merril Lynches of the world and seek out the low cost alternatives like Ameritrade and Fidelity (I use both).

AMTD was trading at 20, announced record earnings and plummetted. I believe it will get back to 20 within the next 3-4 weeks
