Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

This stock has been hit hard, like most retailers. I am a loyal Ann Taylor customer, and I always look for sales. At $25/share, this is a big one.

Ann Taylor is another case in the retail world of what I expect to be 'duck and cover.' Ann Taylor saw a modest rise in same store sales in September, but that was largely from their lesser priced Loft locations. The higher margin and more expensive Ann Taylor locations performed poorly like their c...More

I am negative retail. Recession is coming, high gas pricies, job losses, dollar falling, inflation going up not down.

The retail sector is going to get hit hard when the issues outlined stick around for XMAS. Look for same store sales to drop in the 4th quarter from last year by 3-5%.

Better than expected earnings means buy buy buy, right? Wrong. The worst is yet to come for US retail.

Anne Taylor is up 14% right now on higher than expected Loft store sales... (frankly i dont know how anything is "expected" or "unexpected" in this market and yet the words are thrown around like the air we breathe)... I like ANN, I think she's a great long term retail (long meaning 3 years), but you don't buy retails with the intention of holding them 3-5 years from now when there is an almost definitive chance that the stock will drop 30% over the next 6 months when people finally realize that the oil has hit their "free-money-checks" before they even had them in their pocket. And on that note: I keep seeing $600.00 rebate checks written everywhere, and the truth is that the majority of the american population that WILL foolishly spend this money are the young teens and the very poor for whom this truly is free money since many of these individuals don't care about any balance sheet except the cash that is in their hands right now. Fortunately and unfortunately, ANN does not derive much of her income from these individuals--thats not good right now, because when other specialty retailers who DO cater to such a demographic get a boost, ANN won't; on the other hand, its a very good thing for ANN because when the crash follows the sugar high, ANN won't be affected by it. In fact, when the sugar crash happens, THAT is when my red thumb will plant some flowers around ANN.
