Debt's a little high but improving & ARE's near the 52 week lows. If you're like me & expect the life science's to hold up ok in this downturn, ARE looks like a pretty good bargain here. Could go lower, but the cut dividend is still yielding 4+% and earnings have shown stregth of late.
The 5 year avg. P/E is 36 and ARE's sitting at about 8 right now. Watch the 2Q earnings report closely. I don't expect it to, but if the 2nd Q's near MSN's projected $1.37 there's no reason why this thing shouldn't skyrocket. That $1.37 figure has to be a mistake because their 2009 guidance is suggesting $2.5 per share. Even still, that puts ARE at reasonable FWD P/E of 12.

Expensive property in a niche market for life science research seems to be a bit speculative in this market, especially given that some of these properties are in cities like SF, where prices continue to fall as taxes continue to rise.

This stock is completely overpriced with P/E 21.37. Terrible long term debt to equity ratio (2.06), tepid return on equity 8.8, and very high payout ratio...This is unsustainable. And, with the federal government in so much debt, I don't expect the national institute of health (NIH) budget to increase anytime soon and NIH money is very important source of income for life sciences industry...

I believe Aecon Group Inc.'s stock price will grow very much because they are one of the only companies in Canada that can contract to repair the infrastructure in Canada, such as poor road and highway conditions, rebuilding bridges etc. Canada is planning to use ~$33 billion-plus to hire private companies to repair the infrastructure and one of the few companies able to handle the job.
