I picked up some CO2 for making seltzer and went to Airgas for my full up. Ever since then, I see Airgas all over, and my general impression is that they know what they are doing.
So, I decided to check their fundamentals: they run a tight business, making excellent profits and growing. ARG is also relatively cheap in my book, especially in the wider context of medical gas demand, which I suspect will keep a floor under the business.
Relative to the SP500, while the general market has stalled or sunk badly, ARG has managed to keep investors interested and happy.
Looking at the chart, I like what I see. Basically, I'm betting ARG has gone sideways long enough for everyone who wanted to bail has done so, but its fundies will look great to new investors looking for fiscal firmament in the fall, particularly if they can keep their expansion going.

Airgas is a leading supplier of Industrial and Medical Gas and liquid gas products. Although the Industrial gas part of the business will slow during the current Recession that started in December or January, the Medical gas business should remain its slow steady growth. The company has a "Moat" with its customer base and distribution network.
The multiple at 18.6 is "Rich" but in my opinion has the potential to fall less than the Market Multiple. I would not rate the stock a BUY so much as a mild outperform relative to the BEAR market.
