The weakest of the mall clothing stores, ARO has had to rely on heavy discounts to move merchandise. I see this segment contracting, with Abercrombie also not doing well, and teens not spending time in the mall like they did in previous years.

Rising insider ownership and shrinking deficit make this look like it's hit it's bottom.

Less loss than expected is a good thing usually if you've been bleeding to the point where your market cap is virtually non-existent. The bad part, however, is that less loss as a retailer on the Seasonal Quarter...the only one many retailers make a profit on....is not gonna help much in the long run.

It will, apparently spike things enough to shake the 23% short interest who got a little bit greedy and overstayed their welcome...although it may be a good time for those who sidelined at the right time to consider a repeat performance. The 15% spike when you read the fine print that sales are continuing to decline for this teen retailer (11% YoY).

There is a lot of "potential" energy here if they could turn a profit a year from now....but that $122M they borrowed 2nd quarter 2014 better have bought the right mix of inventory.....

There isn't much to like about Aeropostale at this point...

It's no secret that the physical retail industry as a whole has taken a hit as a result proliferate e-commerce growth. This is a store with little to no brand appeal or strategy, and even less market power when it comes to product pricing. Their COGS have risen steadily over the last ten years which has eaten their margins and lowered their overall profitability. To make it worse, Mall traffic is on the decline which means less foot traffic and sales potential. People simply prefer to shop where the savings are, and this has been to the detriment of Aeropostale.

All this said, I must admit I'm on the fence as I put my pick in CAPS. The company generates no profit and seems to be headed into the ground making it a sell. However, I see back to school crowds potentially breathing some much needed life into this company. It's also pretty cheap at its 52 week of about $3.

I'll play this as a short term buy, but would never hold this long term.

Higher SG&A, Lower Margins and the costs of closing stores all ensure that this stock will most likely do nothing and stagnant for at least the next few years. This could be a prime target for private equity investors as well.

Hard to kick a dog when it's down so much, but I'll try. Mall store. Malls are dying. Huge losses backward and forward. May climb back in a year. $6 here we come.

Q3 numbers were bad, but I like the value now. I generally don't like stocks with negative profits, but ARO has a history of profitability, very low price to sales, low debt, and better revenue than companies with twice its market cap. And, we're coming into profitable season for clothing retailers, so I think there's at least a 20% upside

There is fundamentally nothing wrong with this company and it sits at the bottom of it's trading range. There is a pattern to this stock: every Fall the stock price increases until Spring of the following year.

Aero continues to rise in popularity. I feel like it is a trend setting company and will continue to become better and better.
