I believe that with gas prices higher and uncertainity regarding airline safety more people will look to the regional casinos for entertainment.

Despite some short-term hiccups, Ameristar has a bright future. With a new parking garage, meeting and conference space, and a new hotel due open towards the end of 2007, Ameristar will prove out as the best player in St. Louis. There is no question about the company's status in Kansas City. Vicksburg is a sure bet with upside -- the company has a nearly unbeatable position in that market. Black Hawk represents a nice opportunity to dominate a market with very little real competition (despite there being 21 other casinos). Even Council Bluffs, in which the market has lost the leading market share to Harrah's, has upside -- whatever the company decides to replace its first-generation riverboat with will be the biggest casino in the market.
Plus the stock is relatively cheap, despite a run-up in the past few weeks.
