WoW isn't going anywhere, the "pay-to-win" breed isn't catching on, and other subscription-based services haven't caught up. That said, others are catching up, and other ATVI titles are largely flops.

With WOW losing so many customers, can't see them outperforming at this point

I had held this for quite a while with minimal increase in price. I think (hope) the recent movement will catch a few eyes and the increased interest will, over time, drive this stock up as it "deserved" to go up perhaps a year or two ago.

I have been a customer of Blizzard since an early age. When you believe in some thing; you just know. Big gains since last year on $ATVI. That's how we do it.

Activision Blizzard is home to some of the most prolific game titles in existence including the highly valuable Call of Duty franchise. Despite labor problems in the past and the issues of beating out smartphone/tablet games, I believe that Activision Blizzard is well positioned to continue to exert dominance in the gaming sphere. They have consistently been able to get high quality games released every year like clockwork without sacrificing the integrity of the titles.
In addition, they occupy a position as one of the largest game developers, which gives them access to more resources to produce even better games. In addition, their competition has been weak lately with companies like EA hitting stumbling blocks.
Finally, I think that it is overly zealous to claim that smartphones and tablets are going to kill console gaming. There are thousands of men, women, and children who are either addicted or nearly addicted to console gaming and millions more individuals who find frequent pleasure in playing on consoles. No matter what, smartphones and tablets just cannot provide the kind of gaming experience that a good TV and console can. In the end, I seriously think that Activision Blizzard will be able to overcome the current forces and prosper. Besides, they have a decent dividend to reduce short pressure.

Activision's steady stream of cash flow from online video games and a new "blockbuster" game coming out in the coming years with Bungie will increase this stock. Not to mention the CEO is geared towards revenue and sequel producing games.
Recs
Based on strong fundamentals and competitor EA is in major doo doo also PS4 and new XBOX should help boost new gaming buying frenzy.
Recs
In gaming, you're only as good as your last software release. In ATVI's case, they've got several months of hot releases coming out and their on-line gaming strategy is picking up. Prediction: several months of upswing.

my theory is that they will become the marvel comics of video games. when their games start getting made into movies, the share price will skyrocket.

Video games are not going anywhere and although the industry seems to be shifting to mobile platforms ATVI will be able to adapt and thrive in the gaming industry. Plus the #3 best-selling franchise of all-time: Call of Duty

This stock will outperform the S&P 500 because of the innovative gaming technology, and previous popularity of their games.
Recs
This is a very good company that gives consumers good games every year. They have a growing revenue and the stock price will soon match that.
Recs
They seem to be out of sync with the gaming world and I don't see how they will get themselves out of this quandary short of overhauling the entire business.
Recs
Year on year, this company produces some of the most popular games available across both console and computer platforms.
