Good partnerships, good innovation, good technology. I don't see the demand to replace aging telephone infrastructure going away anytime soon, and no one big player seems to own this space.

Seasoned management coupled with strong VOIP momentum to provide stability. Stregthening fundamentals coupled with products in growth domains like unified communications space to limit downside while providing huge upside potential. Vote of confidence by seasoned investors like Soros, plus cash reserves provide an enticing entry point.

AUDC is a dandy speculation pick. It has major growth potential for a number of years based on its technology. I believe that it is undervalued based on growth potential.

AUDC has done a good job of partnering with the likes of Microsoft and ShorTel who are both gaining traction in IP based unified communications markets (in addition to existing relationships with legacy players such as AV/NT). The adoption of new products in this space such as Microsoft's OCS will take several years to reach critical mass as most large companies don't change their communications systems/vendors quickly in a single shot. Being an early participant as part of the OCS solution set and partner with leading IP communications companies will allow AUDC to ride the technology growth curve in the years to come.

I think that they are positioning themselves for the future according to this news clip:
Combined with AudioCodes' gateways, our enterprise customers can seamlessly combine collaborative applications like Microsoft Exchange with world-class IP telephony."
AudioCodes' SIP-compliant MediaPack gateways enable connectivity to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, legacy analog phones, fax machines and survivable remote branch offices, as well as connectivity to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) using digital and analog interfaces. These gateways now add additional value for AudioCodes and ShoreTel customers by interfacing to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 for Exchange Unified Messaging applications, while also allowing future integration with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 for Microsoft Unified Communications applications. The solution also supports coexistence of the Microsoft & ShoreTel unified messaging solutions on the same ShoreTel IP telephony system, with the ability to specify the user interface by individual.
ShoreTel Pure IP telephony systems provide customers with a number of key benefits, including ease of use, manageability and lower total cost of ownership than alternative solutions. ShoreTel's distributed software architecture and switched-based hardware platform extend enterprise-class voice services to every office and outpost, keeping employees fully connected wherever they go.
