Bad quarter but production is up. Yamana has to control their costs and improve the bottom line. They will in time.

Inflation hedge. Dollar devaluation hedge. Wait for momentum then get in. Other than that stay out.

I'm getting into defensive positions and gold should do well with the global race by 1st world countries to lower their currencies.

gold is good inflation hedge with all the Qe's. Plus stock has been hammered. Have not done DD with this one in years, but have notice board changes.

I am not one to jump on the gold wagon, but there is a short term play to make here. I actually agree with the conventional wisdom of not over buying the gold stocks.

Been tracking this stock for a decade. Everytime stock price drops below $9 it bounces back dramatically. Overall market correction is inevitable in early 2014 and gold and gold miner stocks will move up when it happens. This is a well-managed undervalued company in a sector that is nearing a bottom.

can mine gold under 800 per oz profitably....most of the competition will be out of business well before the metal gets that cheap..the cure for low prices is low prices...

Probably not a stock I'd buy in real life, because these types of companies always look better on paper than they do in real life. But in caps, I think it's a good value - price has been beaten down lately, like a lot of mining companies, because the profit margin has been decreasing. I think AUY's support level is somewhere in the mid-9s. It's been in a free fall, but I think it's close to bottoming out.

As stated in Motley Fool Stock Advisor Special Report 'The Best Way to Play Gold Right Now' :
' With recent all-in costs of just $856 per gold ounce, Yamana's efficiency is hard to beat.'

As we are closing in on the real production cost of gold for some mines, I think we will soon see the bottom and which company else to choose than Yamana, with one of the lowest production costs? They will survive when others will suffer. Further if the current decline starts scaring the market, then the gold price will go up. I believe this is a win win no matter where the market goes. My time frame is a couple of years.

A very clear case of "throwing the baby out with the bathwater". Very low cost miner compared to its peers. Like the dividend and think they should have solid production increases this year in several of their major mines this year (2013).

Even if you don't think it has hit bottom yet, it is time at very least (IMHO) to get it on your watch list.
