If you got to have gold this is the one to jump on for the long haul/play. It has been beaten down and now is the time to buy on the dips only if you are going to hold on to the thing.

Gold is money and will show its true colors in a nation on the verge of bankruptcy.

Mining shares like ABX and AUY are headed higher in 2009 but not because of monetary inflation. We are sorely in debt and the demand for money (whether that be in dollars or gold) is going higher in 2009.

Commodities will be hit hard in the first half of 2009. I think oil could sink a little lower than $40.

Equities are simply not done bleeding. As long as the experts are still calling a bottom I'm increasing my short positions on the market.

The amount of money the Fed is printing "is just a drop in the bucket" compared to amount of debt and that is why you will see more and more people walking away from their houses next year.

The demand is for money. Stay liquid.

Strengthening dollar and deflation is not in favour of gold for the short time.

Yamana Gold is a Canadian gold producer with significant gold production in several countries. I expect gold to move much higher (over $1,000 per oz) in the next few months. I expect AUY to top $10/share in February.

Gold will rebound hard in 09. There is too much paper money going into circulation and that will cause inflation in late 09. Gold will become a haven again, because of low interest rates and just the massive availabilty of cash to be had, will push Gold to $1200 and AUY to $15

Gold has touched the 830 level twice in two days, and if/when it breaks through, then the next stop is 873. As for the new Obama team? I don't see much change in his economic plan other than smarter guys with bigger buckets. Why do we have a credit freeze that can't be fixed? Would you loan money to people with no jobs, and a mountain of credit debit financed on the equity of a home that is now halved in value? The bottom line is. Gold will break out soon, because our leaders are now fully committed to the scheme of spending our way out of the hole, and it won't work because it's impossible to get traction in a consumer driven economy that is bleeding jobs. If your economic model is driven by 70% consumption. Then the formula is simple.

(70% consumption + No Consumers = Neg. Growth)

It's just that simple, and no amount of voodoo will change it.

yamana is just a good solid company, and the fed is running out of sand bags, but the water keeps rising.

As the US Govt prints dollars to fund the bailout, I expect gold prices to rise and the value of Yamana's reserves to increase.

Tremendously oversold producer. Also mines silver and copper to reduce per ounce costs. Selling for a laughable PE 8.18 for a producer who is growing.

One of the lowest cost producers in the sector. I will be shocked if gold prices do not rise (substantially) in the next couple years. This stock as well as the entire industry should outperform.

Solid company low debt with good management. Current economic conditions may depress stock lower; but, rebound and coming inflation will double or triple stock in 2 or 3 years. Look at stock price history and recessions. This recession will be longer than several months. When FED can no longer lower intrest rate inflation will rise and so will gold prices.

Inflation will eventually return and gold will rise and take this low cost producer higher with it.
