I've been at this for awhile now, as my username might imply, and I've come to believe that the most reliable metric for intelligence in general, and stock trading in particular, has to do with simply being able to spot patterns...starting out with an initial modest investment of $2,000 split between two stocks some years back, my cost basis for 2011 was just over $1.24 million, so you can take my advice for what you think it's worth: AWI just just paid a special dividend of $8.55 per share, and naturally the price dropped just over that, and is now recovering gradually, as it always does, back to where it was. If you missed the dividend, you can still get in now and make over $10 a share by August/September... excellent, well-run company, known for making high quality floor and ceiling products, in a sector that will rebound bigtime this year. Reuters P/T of $59.60, with Outperform...any questions?

Tough to see these guys scorching the market anytime soon (6 - 12 months). However, [AWI] is well-positioned to take advantage of the Obama Administration's proposed ~$850B economic stimulus plan, which is reported to contain hefty chunks to be allocated towards infrastructure renewal. If Armstrong captures some of the institutional and commercial work, their corporate balance sheet will continue to improve.

Recently emerged from bankruptcy with a much improved balance sheet. Market leader with top name brands in the industry. Trading well below book value. At the current price there appears to be a wide margin of safety.

Take over target. Most likely something to be announced before year's end. Only going to get better from here. Just recently got killed with market drop due to housing starts. The real moneymaker division has nothing to do with housing starts, so at $40 it's a real bargain.

Good quality products in flooring and cabinetry. Flooring offers a number of options including diy vinyl products for budget renovations. They are in the home improvement stores as well as the high-end cabinetry stores and have strong marketing approaches. The financials look reasonable for good future growth. The question will be how well management will handle it.
