American Axle & Manufact. Holdings, Inc. (AXL)

CAPS Rating:
*

The Company is a supplier of driveline components to General Motors Corporation for its rear-wheel drive light trucks and SUVs manufactured in North America.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

3. American manufacturing has fallen behind Japaneses auto manufacturers.
Is there anyone who does not think Honda, Toyata, Acura, Lexus etc make better quality cars then GM?
4. The P/E is still high on this company.
5. Bankruptcy is a possibility.
6. NAFTA
7. American labor is no where near competitive to Asia (X Japan)
8. Union going on strike? Are you kidding? You had better go back to work! Show up early and leave late! Thanking the Lord you still have employment. Because many don't and won't here in the future. 1 in 10 in Ohio are on food stamps and we are just beginning the down turn.

In the state of the encomony I don't see the company lasting unless thre are some drastic changes i actually work for a manufacturing plant that was depended on them and them staying away from striking in febuary. The fact remains things are going up in prices the wages the employes where fighting for was in early january. I don't think they will have enough people able to work for them at there current wages.
