Closed and re-opened to more accurately reflect my actual start price for a longer term hold.
Actually in at $2.35, but will look for opportunities to add.
Here is a link to a press release on Yahoo Finance, concerning "Shareholder Rights". This is an interesting move by them to make sure they don't become the latest in the growing group of companies that hedge funds and private equity firms are making moves on while share prices are depressed.
It is a form of "poison pill" that will give existing share holders the right to buy additional shares at a discount to the then market price, in the event that anyone takes a 15% interest.

I like the company anyway, and am patiently waiting for the final permits to be issued so they can move from a development comapny to an actual mining company, but this eases one of my main concerns about what could happen as they get closer to that point.
Worth at least a small position, since they are far enough along in the process that the wait should not be much longer.
JMO and worth exactly what I am charging for it.

I have been keeping up with the progress made permitting wise and it appears that progress is being made. This company has been at this for 4+ years and I do not believe is going anywhere. The Chief Operating Officer seems sincere and willing to work with and compromise with the surrounding community and their concerns. I am thinking 20+ a share in the next 4 years with a possible buyout.

AZC has not demonstrated ongoing financial feasiblity. Costs are grossly underestimated for the Rosemont Project, Air Quality Permit denied and appeal was lost.Ongoing financing uncertain. HEAVY opposition, will be in the courts for years. There are much better copper plays.

Copper demand expected to outstrip supply in 2012. Speculative play on a new mine project seeking USFS approval.

Copper, Silver and more will be mined from AZC Arizona strip mine. Revenues should soar.

May fluctuate in the short term but should be a tremendous performer in the 3-5 year range. Buy it, forget about it, and come back to it in 3 years. Here's why:
The have a "7.2 billion pound copper resource that will account for 10% of US copper output once in production in 2011. The deposit also contains 180 million pounds of molybdenum and 75 million ounces of silver."
They have already negotiated to sell 45% of their silver deposit to Silver Wheaton for $165 million for development costs ( a great deal for Wheaton if it comes to fruition).
Risks: Unable to get further financing, unable to get regulatory permits or the U.S. political climate turns against domestic mining.
(This does not constitute advice to buy or sell this security. Please complete your own due diligence.)

2011 will produce 10% of copper in United States fom its 7 billion pounds in ground! Great unfolding story!

Copper Copper every where...Right time to buy? Maybe. AZC is 3 years from meaningful production, but oh my what they project production will be. Did I read that right, this mine will account for 10% of US copper production?
AZC just traded away 45% of their future Silver production from this mine to Silver Wheaton in exchange for $165 million. That's enough to pay a little more than half the price tag for bringing this mine to production phase. Pre-Production mining slated for 2010, with full production in 2011.
The feasability study shows a 3 yr payback period, and a 21% internal Rate of Return for this project. The study is based on copper at $1.50, but copper is currently trading in the $3.60 to $3.80 range. I may be early, but would rather wait than miss the boat on this pick.

Hurray for Gold!!! Hurray for Silver!!! Hurray for Oil!!! Hurray for Base Metals!!! Down with $US!!! Down with US Banks!!! Up with US stock market nominal basis!!! Down with US stock market real basis!!! Down with US Houses!!! Down with Citigroup!!! Down with US Economy!!! and DOWN WITH INFIDELS!!!!!!!!
Whoever shorts metals company because of no revenue is stupid!!! Why trade good metals for bad $US just to report revenue!!! A company can have no revenue, just sleep, but if the price of their metals go up, market cap go up! All metals miners should stop producing, have no worthless $US revenues, and wait until supply goes down until Gold hits $5000 then to sell their metals!!!

The company is a micro cap. It operates, through its wholly owned subsidiary Rosemont Copper, an open face copper-molybdenum-silver deposit in Pima County AZ. This recommendation is based on two things: 1) the appointment in January Rod Pace (former as VP, Operations of Washington Group International, who has a good track record with start up operations) as VPO: and 2) this deposit is known to be rich and may be spectacular (especially as to Molybdenum). It is risky, but the reward may be substantial.

4 star company at low price. I don't to much about nevada but arizona should be rich in minerals.

Will be a significant player in the US copper market.

With a 25% pullback off it's Oct 30th high, this appears to be a good point of entry. Look for a rebound in copper prices in the next several months as we work through the housing slowdown. Good inside ownership and an experienced management team.
