As far down as it's come, there isn't much farther down it could possibly go! It's lost over 80% of its value in the last two years, but they're still the biggest bank in the country, so they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

No profit. Shrinking quarterly revenues by over 50% (yoy). Tens of billions more in debt than cash.

Bank of America continues to quietly defraud the American taxpayer in 2011 by moving toxic mortgages to Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac as well as moving overvalued Merrill Lynch derivatives onto the balance sheet of the FDIC insured customer bank accounts.

I think there's a good chance the Federal Reserve gets abolished or somehow handicapped during the next president's administration-- bad news for banks, especially those which are already struggling.

It's cheap--Shares are currently trading for 40% of tangible book value or less than 2x its underlying earning power (pretax preprovision profit/share count = $3.6).
Great underlying business--It has the largest and low cost deposit franchise, #2 investment bank based on revenue. The investment banking business alone is worth more than the company's market cap.
The mortgage overhang will be over--Mortgage related issues will be resolved over time, one way or another, just like the asbestos cases. And once those are gone, market will start to appreciate or rather marvel at the strength of underlying business.

This is a big call but given the world events and the banks fundamentals I feel Bac is undervalued and the assets in this bank can sustain and prevail to reach it's target

It is oversold and there is no clear reason why the stock should be priced so low relative to others.

Still too big to fail. They are making the moves to create cash to help them through, even with the mortgage crisis taking a huge bite out of them. They will weather the storm and come out ahead. However, this will take quite a while. Go long.

The only thing going for it is that the government probably won't let it fail. Even so, I wouldn't put my money in it.
