This stock is so undervalued it is ridiculous. They have booked over 100 million in revenue this quarter, and the stock price has not taken this into account. Fair market value seems more in the order of $50 dollars/share.

The "Emergency Use Authorization" Bcrx is pushing the stock in the short term. Production of their life saving IV drug "Peramivir" is currently limited. The final authorization to use the anti viral drug will coincide with the ramping up of production capacity, all to give this stock a steady upwards rise for many quarters.

If flue turns really bad, these guys have an IV solution. Working hard for international sales.

From the president's council recs “HHS is moving forward with the purchase of intravenous antivirals for use under EUA for individuals who may require them.” $2.7B has been identified for anti-virals and vaccines; peramivir will be stockpiled, and an EUA will be coming shortly. If this doesn't happen, the stock will tank and many more people will die from H1N1 than should have.

Expect FDA approval of its anti-viral and substantial orders thereafter.

Going up if emergency flu use granted and then again if approval of Premavir. Good chance of one or both happening,

Speculative play based on bullish sentiment from Michael Murphy; big potential if Emergency Use Authorization is granted in the next few weeks.

Swine flu? Are you kidding me? This will blow over and these companies will have produced enough product for billions of people who are all perfectly healthy. Thanks, 24-hour news cycle, for making a mountain out of a molehill...

BioCryst has enjoyed a near triple on the back of their developmental drug peramivir, thanks to the pequeno viru that could from our neighbors to the South. But a cursory review of peramivir's history tells us that it is no compound to build an investment on. The fun started back in 2002 when peramivir failed as an oral drug, after which it was developed for IM and IV administration. One of the more amusing biotech stories from 2007 was the company's excuse for the failure of a trial of IM peramivir - the needles were too short and the patients were too fat. IV peramivir has had less than stellar results as well, with phase II data showing similar efficacy to oral medications in hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients with seasonal influenza. These and other misadventures resulted in the share price dropping below a buck in late 2008 from above 12 a year earlier.

In current news, their Japanese partner Shinogi is enrolling a phase III trial of IV peramivir in seasonal influenza, and a make-up phase II trial of IM peramivir is in progress with data expected later this quarter. To the best of my knowledge their is no clinical data for peramivir in pandemic flu. The only other late stage developmental compound is the chemotherapeutic Fodosine which has shown lukewarm results in leukemias and lymphomas.

The bottom line here is that flu epidemics will continue to come and go, although it is impossible to predict when they will occur or the amplitude and duration of their effect on Biocryst stock. What is certain is that the true market value of the stock is much closer to what it was a week ago than what it is today, and once this epidemic has passed the price will find its way back to an equilibrium closer to 2.

Biocryst still has some time before it will be able to get peramavir approved. Although peramavir is a slam dunk, Biocryst will still lose plenty before it makes gains. I'd wait until peramavir (intermascular and I.V.) gets pushed into phase three in the US.

US government is paying the way for bird flue drug and the platform appears to have other applications. Market has way overdone this sell off.

Biocryst is sitting on the verge of a major break through for the marketing of a drug to combat influenza in the health care sector.

A real and announced satisfactory continuing positve testing program would start kick this drug developing company into high gear with the capability to fly with the big boys.

Ground floor opportunity with a perceived good odds of success with one drug and others in varius stages of formulation and development.

It's Bird Flu season again. As soon as reports start coming in focus will return to companies in this sector. BCRX is way oversold with good fundamentals, improving technicals and is an aquisition candidate.

With bird flu season around the corner, news should pick back up on it and more of a focus will be made on the companies in that sector. BCRX is beaten down to the point it makes a good potential acquisition candidate too.
