Jack never goes out of style.

Legal mind-altering drug + a dividend. What isn't too love? Top 25 pick

There was a massive sell off when the last quarterly earnings reports showed a major drop in year to year income. But the previous year's numbers were massively inflated by the sale of Fetzer Wines. Most people were unFoolish enough to look at the numbers but not take the time to understand that the core business was doing great, Jack and Coke is still one of the most widely ordered drinks at every wedding in the US, and this was a one time blip. Completely irrelevant to the long term aspects of the company. The balance sheet looks good, the dividend is nice and has room to grow, and it is currently trading at the lowest ratios of any company in the spirits industry. People will flock to it when the next few quarterly reports show growth and the stock price will come back up to par with it's peers.
Why would you buy Diagio at a premium when you can get the makers of Jack Daniels at a bargain?
Recs
Great company, but not a great price. $50 by the New Year.

With an upcoming split, those riding this wave will toast their 100% investment equity increase, plus an equal, cash bonus- Investors will want to ride this proven winner in the neck-and-neck, spirits market.

One of the top 3 publicly traded liquor companies after DEO and RI (EuroNext-Paris), with great brands such as Jack Daniels, which is the #1 selling American Whiskey.
This is a great moat (which DEO and RI also have with their brands), and cost of making the products is super cheap, but they can still sell them for quite a premium. Their products are also bought on a regular basis by their customers. R&D is nill for existing products and limited to new products, so majority of cost would go to marketing (COGS still very low).
Consistently high ROE and ROA the last 10 years. Has also outperformed the market by quite a lot during any 3 year or more period. Low LTD to Capital. A bit expensive now though with p/e around 22.

Always a good pick during tough times.

Between increasing globalism and a recovering economy, I'm generally bullish on businesses that sell or support staple consumables and inexpensive minor luxuries (like, in this case, booze).

BFB has focused on liquor business
1) Continued quality Marketing
2) committed improving manufacturing
3) will fine turn acquistions

hard times=more whiskey
good times=more whiskey

Management is very forward thinking in addition to growing existing brands. Also the large percentage of insider ownership by both management team and Brown family helps them to focus on long term value instead of short term gains.

Down markets = increase in spirits and wine consumption. Diverse brand offerings and a stable of premium brands such as Jack Daniels, Finlandia, and Southern Comfort position Brown Forman to offer desirable returns in this market and going forward.

everybody drinks something so based on this rating I picked this stock. I hope it doesn't let me down.

This is one of those stocks I always have in the portfolio. In the weeks that are so bad you don't even want to look at your holdings, this is a stock that invariably makes me realize things could have been worse if I didn't have it. Nothing glitzy, but good for keeping up the morale if you allocate a continual percentage of the portfolio to it. Nice little perodic dividend too. In really strong markets I wouldn't expect it to outperform, but if we hit a long bout of stagflation I think it'll hold up quite well in comparison to the rest of the market.

Great quarter. Breakout. Rower.

This economy has me wanting to buy alcohol stocks. Jack Daniels is still going to get drank during a recession, so we might as well buy this stock as well as Constellation Brands. BTW it has been beating the S&P for a year now, so sit back relax and enjoy some good ole' Tennessee Sippin' Wiskey! CHEERS!

This is a well run company that is at a good price. Time to make money!!
