Global demand for premium spirits esp'ly whiskies. Also note the barrels - many Scotch whisky distilleries buy used barrels from the US esp Jack Daniels, which is one of BF-B's brands.

People buy alcholhal of every type.'

If times are bearish they buy and drink at home. If times are bullish they spend in bars

hotels or any place that sells alcholhal.

It will make money at any time.

near 52 week low. Looking at it as a contrarian buy, although corn prices ought to make life a little interesting.

The company has traded at a much higher premium. I believe the shares are down due to the Casa Herradura acquisition. My only concern is the higher corn futures.

Recently beat down by quarterly earnings report that was impacted by Herradura acquisition. Premium brand whose P/E is trading below industry yet growing faster than its peers. Good steady performer in case of recession makes this a good hedge stock in a portfolio.

-Purchase of Mexico Casa Herradura Tequila. The pre-acquisition sales mix is about about 3 quarter domestic (Mexico)and a about quarter International.
-If BF could improve the sales volume in international market (which by the way should have higher profit margin); the improvement to bottom line will be substantial.

Relentlessly successful brand-builder/maintainer, steady performance for many years--and the company is still doing its thing as well as ever. (Herradura acquisition another good long-term decision). International markets with expanding middle classes won't hurt either.

This company is building franchise brands in addition to Jack Dniels. Recent price drop provides a nice buy opportunity.

A company that needs some strong management initiatives. Could be stronger if it could broaden it's wine portfolio to compete with Constellation Brands. Fortunate to be in a business that still has room for a number of growing players.

Brown-Forman manages some of the top brands in the world (led by Jack Daniels). The company has incorporated super-premium brands like Woodford Reserve Bourbon, one of the most highly respected brands (and management teams) in the bourbon industry. The very recent tequila acquisition (and the forecasted growth of the overall tequila market) is just the latest smart move by B-F management.

As a reader of industry publications like "Whisky Magazine" and "Malt Advocate", I have seen how B-F is regarded within the whisk(e)y industry (and yes, I know that's just one part of their business), and the company is highly respected, not just for how they conduct business, but for all they are doing to educate consumers and expand their markets.

Solid, low profile company, with high profile products. New CEO is making solid changes, and products are ones everyone wants.
