Reload on this one... probably for the last time. I have no idea how this one will overcome price wars from Amazon & the Big Box retailers (e.g., Walmart) and the Kindle / Sony's version of the Kindle / etc. Throw in a recession that is still going strong and a heavy price promotion environment for Borders, they are done for.
Maybe make it as a smaller niche player with less outlets in the future, but toast in their current state.

Too much competition - Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony e-reader, and Apple likely to add a reading Tablet soon.

Just waiting for the "Store Closing" signs. But since I pegged them to underperform, someone like Amazon might buy them up and send the stock soaring.

It's simple, I hardly know a person who buys their books from the retail locations anymore. If they do, it's from a retailer like Powell's, which also deals in used books and keeps customers by offering loads of guest authors for readings and such. The day of the retail book market is dying a slow death and I can't see anything that's going to turn that around. They can't save themselves with lowering prices and cover their ridiculous retail location cost and they are way behind in the online market.

A war between Amazon and Wal-Mart in books is going to take a lot of water out of the pool. Barnes and Nobels may be the brick and morter chain to survive, but I don't believe Borders is going to make it.

This store is DONE...they've lost focus of their core business model (they're selling a lot of manga and tween garbage now) and they are going after any flavor-of-the-month profit booster. Customer service is bad, stores look like they are already packing it in...and cannot compete online against Barnes and certainly not against Amazon. Plain and simple fact is...this whole sector has little appeal when pitted against Amazon...and of the three Bs (BGP, BAMM, BKS), this one is clearly the one heading for the boneyard. Short BGP.

Border's is better than Barnes and Nobles all around, with their service, selection, and membership deals. If you buy borders now you are getting a stock with good potential at an incredible price.

Burning cash + no profits = bad news

Turn around play, got a debt extension, by lowered warrant price . Massive cost cuts 1st quarter - great turnaround play.

Too much competition online and in other stores. I love Borders but with a negative return on equity, a dwindling customer base, and a P/E in the 40s, I just dont see it staying around. I am here and ridding it to zero..or a buyout...

Shot up today on virtually no news, and has a P/E over 40. Oh, also it's a bookstore not named Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Not sure where the optimism is coming from, book retailing isn't exactly a growth business.
Recs
The numbers doen't look good for this bricks-and-mortar retailer.

BGP-- Borders should do good over the next few months

Gotta red-thumb this before they go down again....

This company is one bad Christmas away from bankruptcy, in better times it may have been able to survive but not now.

I think this stock is going to go up a few more dollars... then I will sell.
