Okay, okay, I admit it. I'm calling outperform on a whole bunch of homebuilders just as the market's continuing to crumble and stock prices in this sector are in freefall because, well, ummm, I'm nuts?

Riding FB2's coattails on this one. Hard to argue with him when it comes to homebuilding.

Am I reading the balance sheet correctly? No cash? It looks like they might be using their excess cash to pay down debt.

Inventories have been whittled down a little since last quarter but still seem high at $912MM. Given high unemployment, inventory glut across the country and relative weakness in the housing market, I cannot spin this story in any positive light. I also cannot see how the government housing credit program can continue to subsidize the industry given the outcry over national debt / deficit levels.

Debt also still seems quite high, although they have pared it down pretty consistently over the past few quarters.

The Motley Fool or WSJ should hire Floridabuilder for his in depth analysis. I would pay for it.
