Look at the recent earnings report. This Utility is on the way up with good news on gas utility purchase, electricity sales and completing of the sale of its 7 individual power producers. The icing on the cake is that natural gas prices are up 15 % in the last week and Oil prices are up even higher. All of this goes to BKH's botton line.

Take your pick if you want to bet on oil. This small energy co. has other interests but their stock is side by side with crude prices. It's an easy vehicle to day trade.

Another emotional pick. This is the power company from my home town. I'm far, far away, and my current employer used their contractors to help design a wind energy project. I don't see much about wind energy on their website, but with coal, gas & wind power generation capacity and the recent price downturn, I'm hoping for an upturn as power needs increase over the summer. It's hot in South Dakota.
