Today Goldman Sachs downgraded Barnes and Nobles (BKS) from a Neutral to a sell essentially because there is a shift in place for how distribution is written and delivered, and also because barriers to entry for e-books are lower than physical books.… More

Books are not the highest priority right now when people are struggling to pay the bills... It's not like they are the cheapest things either. Earnings futures look bleak, especially as the Internet phases out the mass printed word.

Huge short interest and pre-orders for the Nook are doing very well. I expect the shorts to get squeezed.

Value play, hopefully not a value trap. S&P feels dividend is intact; Nook coming on board.
Okay, I admit, I'm a sentimentalist for books and I plan to give out a lot of B&N gift cards for the holidays. I enjoy browsing in a leisurely manner in their stores.
