Seems to me that the diplomatic stage is being set for increased trade and joint development projects between the USA and parts of Latin America. This if it has traction would be good for this issue.

I opened BLX to outperform originally on 05/18/11
Closed it out to get the points but also to open it again today because I actually started a position in this Latin America financial company yesterday.
Using my Graham Number Valuation Range (GNVR);
http://wiki.fool.com/The_Graham_Number
Formula: Fair value=Sqrt(22.5*EPS*BV) I expanded it a little by also using EPS Normalized and Tangible BV
Original GNVR on 6/27/12 : $32.37 to $35.21
Previous GNVR on 7/19/12 : $32.90 to $35.23
Updated GNVR on 11/1/12 : $32.80 to $34.43
Things have slowed down but I'm optimistic on the future growth in Latin America and BLX will help facilitate the financing.

I just like it, and its been fun to own

Good, solid dividend. Very reasonable P/E ratio now. Exposure to Latin America and other markets. I like it better than many U.S. banks. I've invested in shares at $15.25 and $18. It may drop a bit in the short term (especially if the market corrects soon), but that just means more shares bought with the dividend. The long term looks good.

With the storm in Europe and the eventual growth of the Asian middle class, this Latin American bank is setting very pretty. Decent dividend while we wait.

5 STARS. Very cheap and yielding 4.92.

Strong growth in target market. New offices should provide additional capital via deposits. Only question is if Latin America can keep it up.

Well, it's my first ever CAPS pick...so, perhaps I'm hoping for some luck. That said, I'm also hoping that positive macroeconomic conditions are favorable for international trade.

Profits come from the trade financing and M&A activity may increase the volume of trades. They may benefit from currency exchange rates as well.

Good value and growth play on Latin America. Strong banks (along with telecoms) are good ways to play emerging markets.

Made it through the last couple years in good shape without any external shape. Is poised to gain market share as others in the region struggle
