Government fines should be resolved by end of year. New projects coming on line. The company is building it free cash flow.

Gulf expansion, continued demand in first AND second world countries. Appears to be undervalued.

The stock still suffering from the negative public perception created by the deep water spill in the Gulf of Mexico is undervalued when compared to its major competitors (Exxon and Chevron). The price will eventually recover. There are plans to reward shareholders with steadily increasing dividends. These factors should drive the price up. However, there are still unresolved legal matters relating to the spill that could result in increased fines further increasing the companies debt.

Picked up some shares today right around 46. I've been eying BP for sometime now and just haven't been able to pull the trigger until now. By just about every metric BP is underpriced largely I suspect because of the unsettled legal troubles streaming for the gulf oil spill. This uncertainty is killing the stock. However BP has more than enough assists to find the potential liabilities and I suspect they will not be as high as most everyday investors realize. BP is a great company, relatively cheap, huge dividend, and I think will pay off handsomely for those patient enough.

The market has recently sold off about 5% and this has brought BP down from its recent 52 week hi, I think this is an excellent time to starting buying into BP. I will certainly add if the overall market and BP continues to correct.

BP is one of the few undervalued stocks in an overvalued market. With this in mind investors will realize the growth potential of BP when compared to it's competitors.

As the legal uncertainties of the Gulf oil spill recede, BP stock price should rise due to decreasing uncertainty. A 4.5+% dividend is nice to receive while you wait.

Has pretty well recovered from the oilspill fiasco of several years ago, pays a good dividend and is positioned itself good in the oil industry.

It's all been said before, but I'll summarize my take on BP.
Positives - Compared to the other oil giants, it has a great P/E ratio, and is the highest dividend payer. They have moved aggressively to shore up the rights to a lot of untapped oil resources, so the future of the company is secure, and they are positioned to be an even bigger player in energy.
Negatives - lawsuits due to the gulf oil spill still create uncertainty about their financial stability. Much of the oil they have purchased is in Russia, and it's been hard for some of the other oil giants to operate profitably in Russia. Some time back, Buffet lost money investing in oil companies who were doing business in Russia. I also suspect that company management may not be equipped to really position BP as an industry leader.

I think by selling enough to pay for lawsuits they will do well next year.
