This stock has been down, as well as other oil stocks, but you can just feel the pressure building before this and other big oil stocks explode back!!

Everything is cyclical, and we're not going to stop needing oil anytime in the foreseeable future.

Now that the settlement from the Deepwater Horizon disaster is in, the cloud hanging over BP is dispersed. Depressed by 30% compared to its peers, the new, streamlined BP can only go up from here.

Good as stand-alone business, yet consolidation in oil and gas could lead to a buyout here ...

I'd be hard pressed to name another company with a worse PR problem, but underneath I see a profitable business with plenty of cash on hand to handle even the worst-case-scenario legal settlement. Barring another oil spill disaster, I think most investors who buy shares at today prices (and hold, reinvesting dividends) will find themselves with a fat-yield income-generating investment few years out.

The low price of oil is a transient perturbation that does not change the underlying value of an integrated petroleum company like BP. The company will shift assets to maintain profitability under current oil prices and reap the benefits when oil rebounds.

A company that can afford for USD 43B or more from de oil spill, without go to banckrupcy, sure is a very good one and will make a lot of money in a word with apettite for oil.

With a PE of 12 and yielding 6.6%, I'm not too concerned if it greatly out performs the S&P 500.

Yes, due to the current oil glut, the yield may drop if the dividend is cut. If that happens and the price has fallen substantially, the yield may actually remain relatively constant. At that time, I'll load up on the less expensive shares.

Purchased this stock at $35 with mad money for my Dogs of the Dow portfolio, in lieu of XOM ($88.96, P/E 11, Yield 3.1%) and CVX ($102.67, P/E 9, Yield 4.6%).

Strong company, world appetite for oil hasn't changed, oil players are rearranging deck chairs, but the players will remain the same. BP is a solid player.

price volatility good for BP long-term price. High dividend and oversold with bad press for years. I expect BP to rise quite a bit

NIce dividend of 6% and great appreciation potential over a 5 year period. Oil will rebound and so will this stock.
