Highly speculative stock with a good chance for double if the politcal environment in Peru remains stable.

With the middle-east concerns, I believe more technology will go into natural gas, and which counbtry is rumored to hold the most NG in the world-USA; and this company find NG.

Numbers just don't show growth, even with moderately rising energy prices.

This is one of my STARZ.
Here is the thought process on this STAR:
a) Divided rate over Zero
b) 3 Year Beta between -5 & +3
c) 15% + Insider ownership
d) No greater than -50% Growth rate for the last 3 years (tought= last couple of years so goo that insiders are still owning the stocks)
e) Current CAPS rating between 3 Stars & 5 Stars
Open to all Industries and Sectors screened this down to just 250 stocks. I like round numbers. 12 of them I already own through other screening tools. I tend to be somewhat conservative but looking for 3 things at this point in my investing:
1. Stability & Strength
2. Yield and Modest Growth
3. Strong Position within a sector regardless of whether the entire sector is strong or not. Each sector has to perform to some degree for the whole world economy to function. I am looking for 5 or more years down the road, ROI, and Growth.
Not looking for rockets, just stars. This is a Star!!

Good reserves. Good team. Well connected in Peru. Plan to generate power makes sense.

Earnings projections are very positive. If you follow the price history this looks like a good entry point especially when you compare it with the earnings graph at cnbc.com. The analyst trend is very positive also.

Because, its an excellente company that has acquired an excelente location for exploration of gas and oil.

Huge exploration upside. Current drilling is focusec on low hanging fruit where there have been previouslly drilled wells that showed hydrocarbon potentials.

BPZ has the following:
- Connections: The CEO's father is a former energy minister in Peru. You kidding me?
- The International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group is heavily invested in terms of loans, equity, and reputation
- It is "THE" Peruvian oil company
- Oil prices are rebounding from desperate lows and as sensibility returns so will sentiment towards oil companies.

This thing will shoot up as soon as half decent economic news starts coming out, probably toward the middle of 2009.

Oil and Gas - Peru

This stock is a great choice. By evaluating this company and looking at their growth pattern and their marketing strategies this is a sure fire stock to pick. This company has great leadership with the ability to think outside the box. With the possibility of some future acquisitions this has all the ingredients for wonderful success, short term and long term both. Keep up and watch out. With this outlook ahead, we should also look to the left and right (aka their competion) for huge leaps as well. If you have a little on the side I say diversify within the sector and buy from all the competetors too for they also are looking very solid. That is my pick and I am sticking to it.

Experiment time... I will pick whatever stocks that are on the cold 5 star list on the last trading day of each month. There is no research involved other what is on the cold 5 star list at the end of each month. Each pick will be for one year. Lets see where this goes...

Shell announce the interest over this company and also because "oil is oil".

Some may think the oil run is over but I doubt it. Transitioning to alternative energy sources which I definitely support will take time. Human nature can be slow to adjust, but not as slow as our government and the system as a whole.

Very undervalued. Peru/Ecuador Oil & Gas story will pick up as Brazil expands
