The ultimate judge and jury is the movement of money. US bonds are being sold and money is moving to other fixed income securities like BWX (SPDR International Treasury ex-US ETF) vs IEF (iShares 7-10 year US Treasury ETF). Fixed income investors are scrambling out of US assets. The Chrysler bankrupty should be a huge wake-up call as contract law going back to the Middle Ages was tossed aside. Bondholders were deprived of their rights. They weren’t speculators as suggestested. No, they were pension plans (the State of Indiana Retirement Fund), insurance companies, overseas investors and so forth who relied on American contract law to protect their investments ultimately.
