The hype has died down, and today's price is fair. Solid long term investment pick.

I guess if you bought this stock at IPO price of 38 then you may have learned your lesson about buying IPOs and trying to make quick cash. Don't badmouth the stock just because you lost $7-10 off the initial offering, that is your own fault. If you buy now you are sure to get back some of that loss. Due to their aggressive acquisitions Blackstone will eventually surpass Berkshire in earnings.

In looking at the returns on hedgefunds, it appears that the way to make money is not to hand over your portfolio, but the own the company itself. They are soaking the rich folks with fees.

Wall Street better realize how powerful this PE group is. The Real Deal! Well run with enough leverage to take Social Security private, and the successful track record to turn it around. They truly know business!

solid company with very strong fundamentals

Stupid Investment Model for trusting private investors.

While generally, most investments from a PE firm lose money, they always find the gems which give them ROE amounts in the thousands of percent. Generally, the players in this market are presented with investments in the millions of dollars or are employees of the funds themselves. This play, opens the door to an otherwise exclusive club to the general public. The potential gains alone offset normal risk.

Overvalued

The PE hype will run them up, but look out when all of that leverage pinches them badly when interest rates go up.

This is only based on what they have paid out to investors in the past and

the four quarters being same (assuming no growth) from the first quarter:

If they earned 4.7 Billion to $7.5 Billion this year with 12.5% interest that would account for $585 to $940 million in earnings

for the units and at 25 times P/E that puts market cap at $14.55 to upwards of $23.5 Billion. That is a stock price of $90 to $165.

I think it will take some time and worry about the FIG story. But I like this market leader and think the value prop is different enough from more comprehensive firms like GS that it should hold long-term value.

Overvalued-yes. But they create value from trashy companies and there is a lot of trash out there. In the long run I believe in what BX does to BS companies and will continue to grow for many years to come.

Blackstone is currently undervalued to the S&P ($38) and its Peer FIG ($44).

Couple this with the multiple expansion that we are going to go through and the stellare growth potential of the stable of Blackstones holding.

Finally the Tax the rich scheme proposed by Levin does not affect the company only the managing partners. It could actually act as an insentive to do more deals and bring in more income to keep the Junior MP's in the manor to which they have become accustomed
