The bad news has had a chance to be dealt with and it is now a solid bottom. As a contrarian with a long term time horizon the time to buy is about now before financials become trendy again. The market will rotate back in and I want to have a small position here when it does.

I was originally thinking this would be a short-term hold, maybe until the stock price reached $5.00 or so. But today, as I give some thought to where their earnings might possibly stand five or six years from now, I believe, with my entry price, my pick will outperform the S&P most every year going forward. So, for now, I am going to consider it a long-time hold.
What I am envisioning is earnings rising to $0.90/sh, a P/E that drifts down from 13 to 8 and a small dividend being reinstated in two or three years. This would reflect a lackluster economy and long-lasting governmental scrutiny of the financial sector. Of course, the actual numbers will likely be something entirely different, based on the state of the economy, future management decisions and changes in government policies. I just think that the odds are currently in my favor for keeping this pick open long-term. RH

Should continue to excel well into 2011 and beyond. Just hoping it's not one of the banks within Wikileaks' crosshairs.

Gross. Toxic. Time for a management retool. Until then, but your money literally ANYWHERE else. Sure there is upside because it was demolished in 2008- but you shouldn't invest "just because" there is upside. Find a business that knows what they are doing and values clients.

Now that the government fixed up Citigroup, it's time to invest!

They are poised to take advantage of financing opportunities in the east.

a good by to get in and out

The reality of the matter is investors' perceptions are formed and transformed from their relative experiences. Big banks were the cause of the Crisis of 08' so they are less appealing, more risky, and not a place to put your money. So the majority may believe. Let's not forget the banking industry is that special sector that directly indicates the state of our economy. Unless everyone believes we will remain in the trough forever, I don't see why the banks wouldn't be an enticing investment. Economy's getting better, Citi's undervalued. Let's not be myopic, Citi's a Buy.

Will sit around 4 for the next year but in a few years after the mess clears it will be in the teens again
Recs
As most other big banks in the US who orchestrated the subprime mess it's most likely largely insolvent and it's only a matter of time before this fact becomes impossible to hide and cripples definitely their operations.
Recs
Citigroup is the third largest bank in the world and is currently severely underpriced.
Recs
Way undervalued stock - Should hit $22 in 12 months.

Will look to pick some stock up next year around Q2, but do not think short term it is going to break out.
Recs
This stock isn't going anywhere in the short-term, nor the mid-term. Banks like C are taking it in the face right now due to bad decisions in relation to housing. When you come down to it, it was greed that led to this situation, and C is just one of many to partake of the humble pie.

Bought the stock almost a year ago. Company sold off many off it's non-core companies going back to its roots. I believe within a year or two will start a stock buy back or start paying dividens.

Banks are STILL way to beaten up. The trade way to low compared to their book value. A play lasting a few years looks very promising

ceo, consumer banking americas,Manuel Medina-Mora acquired 542k shares paying $4.3 pr share totaling $2.3million. This is a 7.76% increase to bring him a total of 7,530,850 shares w/ this purchase. This is a notable insider buy.
Recs
Emotionally, this one makes me sick. The reality is that over the next year or two this will be well into double digits. This will be another self full-filling prophecy stock.
Recs
$4.00 share price will jump, soon we will be debating buy points at the $10.00 strike.
Recs
Citigroup has solid fundamentals and huge cash potential. Scaling back a few losers will mean more opportunity to grow organically in the local market
