Solid fundamentals and oversold. Likely to benefit from the downturn. It will follow EWBC.

Well run bank with very little mortgage exposure. Benefiting from troubles of competitors.

Well run bank, that is exposed to loans but only in the chinese american market, where people save more and have better credit.

This conservatively run Chinese-American old-fashioned bank has dropped in tandem with other banks, but without the justifications. It has only token exposure to mortgages (done mainly as a courtesy for its commercial customers), has increased its loan-loss reserve only insignificantly, and continues to increase its marketing reach through targeted acquisitions. At 77% of book value, a P/E of 6, and paying a 2.6% dividend, CATY is quite the lady among financial-services prospects. No trading thrills here, just a very conservative bargain to hold over at least a year or two.
Apparently the stock price dropped another 6% last week because of the Chinese earthquake, which is not in any way connected to its business. We can learn from history: a few years ago the very temporary "Chinese-American spy plane incident" -- also totally unconnected -- caused a drop of nearly 20%, which very quickly reversed.

Hammered for no reason at all. Great value.

This stock has been in my family for decades and we've never sold. Between the dividend and appreciation, it has steadily built a small fortune for us and is currently putting two kids through private colleges. The bank is just hitting its stride with judicious expansion in a growing market with a traditionally fiscally prudent clientele.

Another Chinese favorite. That usually means healthy deposit base.

excellent record of performance for ten years...
