Cavium Networks acquisition of MontaVista Software in late 2009 may yield long term benefits, but an elevated increase in R&D expenses is the probable result for the short term. With nearly 42M common shares outstanding, it currently trades at about 11.5 times revenues. Although revenue growth was enjoyed from 06 through 08; revenue went flat in 09 so that it about equals the 08 levels.

The recent stock price increase during most of 09 may have priced in the return of revenue growth and positive earnings for the investors during 2010. All that may occur, but perhaps after 2010.
