It has a good 10 year track record of outperforming the S&P 500, interlaced with short periods of underperforming.

Just like Brookfield Partners, CBI is an infrastructure company. They build really big, really expensive, structures that few companies around the globe can build. Their stock has been hammered because of the oil crash and because of a slander article suggesting there was some accounting impropriety going on earlier this year. Neither is an issue that has any roots. The company has limited oil industry exposure and no evidence of accounting issues has surfaced since the claim. I like companies that do big things others can't do, and do it well. Strong company been around for a century.

An excellent company at a cheap price (P/E). May face some near-term headwinds (FX, cheap energy and problems at the GA nuke plant), but should be an excellent buy over the long-term.

Solid management and a extremely reasonable valuation, should improve as energy continues to recover.

CBI has a huge inventory of projects ahead of it. With the stock price down from recent highs, this stock is undervalued in comparison to the volume of projects in the pipeline that will translate into great earnings.

strong performer associated with a depressed sector (though this company is more diversified than the oil and gas sector as a whole).
very favorable price to earnings ratio.
still generating business and landing contracts and outperforming expectations though investors continue to shy away (maybe due to the perceptions and associations with oil and gas)

Market hates lumpy cash flow and short term uncertainty creating this opportunity. Substantially undervalued by any reasonable measure. Management has show the ability over the long run to maximize investor return.

A good company with a long history of strong performance. Perhaps with the drop in oil the market is throwing out the baby with the proverbial bath water.

Berkshire Hathaway owns ~ 10% of this company. Stock has been beaten down pretty badly, but should have long term appreciation.

12/13/14; bottom fishing; know nothing of the company, but unless it's an actual wreck, which looks unlikely, we'll see if this fills at $32 (current trade $39 in a market downdraft).

Strong earnings, PE 8.5, Revenue growth outperforms industry for past 3 years. CBI is also included in Buffett's list of value stocks, with its much sought after processing technology and tanks building capability.

CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON (CBI)

Based on my calculations of Intrinsic Value for CBI, it is significantly undervalued as of12/3/'14 (approx. Market Price on 12/3/'14 $48.45). Also CBI currently has PE < 9 and PEG about 0.5.

Moreover, upcoming Infrastructure Upgrade Cycle in the U.S. which President is pushing for and improving economic cycle in the US will boost earnings and subsequently the stock of CBI.

I believe this is the best time to purchase CBI for long-term patient investors.
