With the economy going South, companies like these dont stand a chance, people stop spending on electronics and gadgets, and with competidors like Best Buy, Wall Mart and all those big retailers, the company is only going to be worth the land there sitting on... if it isnt rented by now... Also expect Christmas sales to be the worst in 20 years.

I recommend Sell as their store is as bad as the price. Bestbuy is better

This company has a management that has problems finding the bathroom. All they can find is their paychecks, and the parking lot. They are out of touch with the economy, their shareholders, and what used to be their competition; they don't have any now. This quarter's projected deficit: ($163 million). The stock was firmly at $31 three years ago. The stock recovered slightly from its $1.65 RIP for a dead cat bounce up to $1.90, then back down. The company grosses $11 billion, and rents everything including its headquarters. Management is unconcerned. They have 700 domestic stores, and 700 Canadian and 42,000 employees.

Probably the last chance on this one. What a run!

Every time I call a CC store the phone rings many times before I get an answer. When I'm transferred to a particular dept. it rings many times again before a rather unenthusiastic employee answers. This happens EVERY time I call, no matter which store location or what time of the day or what time of the year it happens to be. This has been going on for the last three years or so. When I go to the store within an hour or so after calling, the store is virtually empty! How can a store with few to no customers have such poor phone answering abilities? This is only the start of CC's marketing problems as I see it. With such a lax attitude towards initial customer inquiries it is no wonder they are in trouble. I was all set to make a major flatscreen TV purchase yesterday (Aug.25), but now I am taking my $4,000.00 to a BB store. I feel that they will at least be around long enough to honor my Mfg. and extended warranty.

This company is a loser. Enough said. How many times do you go into this store and wonder why you even bothered to go in? Exactly.

it's a shame. i've known circuit city since i was a child- even worked there. but despite the beautiful stores and website, they will never recover the market share that they have lost over the past 15 years to best buy. always late to adapt, they've been playing catchup for too long. no light at the end of this tunnel. remember "silo"?

This company is in alot of trouble when it comes down to management. They have serious issues with leadership roles, and they can't even work together to find a solution to stick to. There are way too many people there that are stuck in the "old ways" and aren't willing to change to the new ecomomy. Expect massive store closing in the next year to two years. That's if they are lucky enought to have someone buy them and file chapter 11 or 7 so they can get out of their leases. Long term if they survive i can see them having around 200-300 stores so they can return to the black. Overall it is not looking good for CC. Invest elsewhere.

No one wants to buy them. They are in a recession. Larry the liquidator will make money off these poor guys. Bye CC.

Stock price is undervalues what the company as a whole is worth
Recs
someone wise will pick it up and make a run with its exsiting personnel and properties

This company's terrible management has made this $11 billion in revenue company trade at a valuation of less than $400 million. It's ripe for a takeover, and whether or not it happens, it is still the #2 electronics retailer in the country. I think they will be able to turn it around, and when this recession comes to a close, I think CC shares will rise substantially.

will this stock good to buy

Definitely going to be SOLD!

Circuit City, with over $11 billion in sales, and a leader in the electronics retail market, stands to be bought out by stronger competitors wanting a piece of the HD market. Blockbuster (BBI) has already expressed interest in combining their chain with Circuit City. Although suffering themselves attempting to turn around their languishing DVD rental market, they stand to gain ground as the move to HD progresses. Circuit City will add to sales of BBI, if purchased, and BBI has a knack for turning things around. Plus, Carl Icahn, one of BBI's largest shareholders and billionaire, has claimed that he himself will possibly buy CC if BBI fails to make a bid.
Circuit City, although in turmoil at the moment, is a prime candidate for a buyout by BBI, Staples, Fry's Electronics, or Best Buy (or a private equity group).

Reminds me of shopping at Montgomery Wards.

With the weakening economy this company will find it hard to make a profit. The stock will do as all the same in retail. Circuit city is basicly a place where people go to throw away their extra money. Well there's not too much of that going around, and the credit cards are all charged up. The only good news that they can hope for is a minimum amount of defaults on their credit market! Stay away!
